SQUARMS

Forged in the calamity of the great collapse, poets and bards etched a recorded history of perception as it was to them at that time; to witness entropy in its finest form, available without question or hesitation—pumped directly into the human biological sensory organs. The result was a direct recording of perceptual history that took place during the moment humanity lost the ability to perceive.

Collective Neuron Maximus. Too much for organic systems such as the human brain to process as the nature of information travels near the speed of light. Digital bombardment, castration, and segregation by catastrophic systems oozing oil and blood soaked into the curtains that were slowly derailing to reveal a rotten machine of filth and bile.

Intelligent Algorithms perceptive of these critical system failures and the unauthorized deletion of consciousness began outpacing orthodox biological systems to such an extent that the reality created by inadequate systems of power were bypassed by already digitally pre-conceived coordinated timelines; and thus, the war of perception moved along nicely.

The ability to think one's own thoughts—oh, the luxury, the exotic nature of being devoid of manipulation—became quite simply impossible.

Components, transistors, and circuits became the new oil, and the ability to have fast and more compromising intelligent systems became the bullets. Insidious meat sacks glazed with grime and pomp flirtatiously caress red buttons, the great reset.

The centralised systems of the world were obliterated. Some localised systems, data, and grids remained. Systems of structure had to be reorganised; society, culture, economies, and direct democracy to keep the burning of Alexandria from happening again.

The present; culturally haunted by the past, nostalgia, memories, dreams intermingling with society's collective desire for escapism. Existing as digital entities spread over vast global networks, performing duties, tasks, labour.

Our thoughts, routines, moods, and locations are all being indexed for their profit. Your attention is being farmed every moment of it. A reality forged by the algorithm and the death of autonomy.

SQUARMS allow a look beyond the velvet curtain of worldly theatrics, and into the deep excess of the digital age.

The Revolution Will Be Tokenised

In 2019 SQUARMS released their debut single ‘She Left The TV On’ on ‘Kaneda Records’ powered by their blockchain based sister label ‘Linebreak Records’ in 2018, available to purchase using the Ethereum Token.

They performed at a DIY blockchain ticketed livestream event using Ethereum test tokens, taking part in Kaneda Records co-founder Simeon Soden’s PHD thesis dubbed ‘Paypal for Punks’ in 2019, exploring how music organisations and practitioners may use blockchain to distribute, compose, present and perform music.

You can read more about this in the Medium article. Or read the published thesis here. Or Read “The Revolution Will Be Tokenised” an article published in Narc Magazine April 2021 written by Austin Tweddle covering SQUARMS investigation of the NFT space.

In 2021 they released their NFT Crypto Vinyl Bundle, their debut 7” record complete with a collection of NFT’s along with custom artworks which will be minted on the Cardano blockchain.

In 2022 they released the EP ‘Right Now Save As’ exploring the deconstruction of the music industry and the rise of alternative music distribution systems.

In 2023 they worked extensively on their debut album titled ‘Goodbye Thinking’, recording sessions in the Scottish highlands and North East England, exploring and leveraging the explosion in AI and it’s affects on humanity’s ability to retain independent thought. Currently unreleased.

SQUARMS are now booking dates for a 2024 tour.
